Titles in the series (7)
- Sailing With Senta: Africa calls
Having spent two months living on board Senta in the uninhabited Salamon Atoll of the Chagos Archipelago in the middle of the Indian Ocean, Faith and Pierre had a decision to make. Where to now? Eastwards to Malaysia and Thailand or Westwards to see the new millennium in with family and friends in South Africa. They chose the latter. This book, the third in the series, describes their final months at Chagos, the homeward journey via Madagascar and their subsequent return in 2000 to Chagos via Madagascar, Mayotte, Zanzibar, Tanzania and Seychelles. Colour photographs and charts help tell the story.
- Sailing With Senta: Across Coral Seas
This second book in the Sailing With Senta Series describes life in the uninhabited Salamon Atoll in the middle of the Indian Ocean and the subsequent 1700 mile voyage to Langkawi in Malaysia. After an extended period of land travel and cruising under sail in Malaysia, Singapore and Southern Thailand, Faith and her husband Pierre then sailed Senta westwards across the Andaman Sea and Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka, Maldives and Chagos. There they had to decide whether to continue to the west and be home in South Africa to welcome in the year 2000, or to turn back to the Far East cruising grounds. Colour photographs and charts help tell the story.
- Sailing With Senta: Eastward Ho!
This is the first book, in a series of seven, about the adventures of the author and her husband on their sailing boat Senta. During their 'shake-down' cruise in the Mocambique channel they visited Madagascar, Zanzibar, Tanzania and Kenya before returning to South Africa. There they repaired and provisioned their yacht, Senta, for a more adventurous voyage to the Far East. Half way across the Indian Ocean, they stopped at Salamon Atoll in the Chagos Archipelago, for their first taste of life on uninhabited tropical islands. Colour photographs and charts help tell the story.
- Sailing With Senta: Tropical Dream
At the beginning of March 2001, a three thousand mile voyage under sail brought Faith and Pierre to the Chagos Archipelago in the middle of the Indian Ocean. There at Perhos Banhos and Salamon atoll they enjoyed life in an uninhabited tropical paradise, visited only by fellow sailing enthusiasts. Five wonderfully exciting months later they continued eastwards to Langkawi Island off the west coast of the Malaysian Peninsula. Colour photographs and charts help tell the story.
- Sailing With Senta: Borneo Here We Come
Six months in a remote coral atoll sounds peaceful. And it was most of the time. Except for a fire on board, a visit from a North Sea rescue ship, a Hermit Crab Race Meeting, a dinghy sailing and rowing Regatta, a yacht wreck and other exciting moments. Then a two thousand mile voyage to Langkawi Island off the Malaysian north west coast was followed by seven months preparation for an expedition to Borneo. Between March and November 2004 Senta explored the Malacca Straits, Singapore, Tioman Island, Kuching, Labuan Island and Brunei, before arriving at Kota Kinabalu in the Sabah State in Northern Borneo. Colour photographs and charts help tell the story.
- Sailing With Senta: Playtime in the Philippines
In February 2005, after three months of preparation in Kota Kinabalu in Northern Borneo, Senta set sail to cross the Balabac Straits and explore parts of the Philippines. In the blustery North east seasonal wind Senta fought her way up the east coast of Palawan Island, sailing in day light through waters too dangerous to negotiate by night Each tough day of sailing was followed by an anxious late afternoon searching for a protected anchorage on a lee shore. At the northern tip of Palawan Faith and Pierre decided to sail round the top and back down the west coast to Kota Kinabalu. The four month circumnavigation of Palawan took them to beautiful places where the met interesting people. Not so pleasant was sheltering from a passing typhoon. After a break to visit family and friends in South Africa and Germany Senta and her crew prepared to sail to Pulau in the South Pacific. This plan was thwarted by bad weather and tired crew and replaced by visits to more islands in the southern Philippines. Colour photographs and charts help tell the story.
