Dirk Adler, a retired Systems Programmer and troubleshooter, finds a dead body in an abandoned stone foundation near Amston Lake, CT. Not content to wait for the police investigation, he follows a trail that leads from Hebron to Manchester to Martha's Vineyard and back. Join Dirk, his girlfriend Margot, and his pet pig Wendell as they attempt to uncover the reason for the murder and to stay alive!

Retired Dirk Adler is half-heartedly renovating his shack-in-the-woods when mystery and history lure him away. Three women: brainy girlfriend Margot, sexy siren Vernonica and ethereal pyschic JoAnne help him uncover secrets buried in Amston woods for 300 years. The situation escalates when a developer begins a subdivision in the woods and bizarre accidents lead the police to Dirk’s doorstep.

Interested in whether there are ghosts at Amston Lake, Dirk, his girlfriend Margot, and his pet pig, Wendell, go into the woods to find out the truth. They discover there are more than just ghosts in the woods, and Dirk fears for Wendell’s life after finding footprints of an unknown creature nearby. Find out whether Dirk can handle the creature and what he does about the haunting of Amston Lake.

Dirk Adler and Joe Wolf plan a quiet, relaxing afternoon of beer drinking and fishing on Amston Lake. Unfortunately, they catch a body instead of a fish. Dirk decides to investigate, but in trying to keep Joe out of trouble, Dirk inadvertently becomes a suspect himself. Margot reluctantly offers suggestions and they team up to clear Dirk, uncover the motive, and find the real murderer.

With help from Margot St. Ronan and accompanied by the prodigious Wendell, Dirk Adler follows an arduous trail involving enigmatic poems, hidden messages, bible verses, and an electronic device, to find a very valuable treasure. Unfortunately, another person, who won't hesitate to eliminate the competition, is also looking for the same treasure. Will it spell the end for Dirk when the two meet?

When people start dying in the small town of Lebanon, CT, the FBI and CDC speculate that terrorists are testing a deadly poison. Ricin, extracted from castor beans, has no known antidote. What no one suspects is the connection of the killer or killers to Dirk Adler and Joe Wolf. When that connection proves to be personal, Dirk and Joe must protect themselves and their friends from sure death.

Arriving from Ohio, Stillman Wilcox enlists Dirk Adler’s aid to help him find bars of gold that he believes Revolutionary War soldiers hid near Amston Lake over three hundred years ago. Dirk and Margot decode the symbols on a strange map that Stillman found hidden in his chimney after his house burned down. The search for gold results in unforeseen danger for all involved.

Dirk Adler is approached by a young college student to help her find a magnetic boulder that apparently was predicted by Nikola Tesla to be in the Amston Lake area. Dirk takes the challenge realizing that it would be almost impossible to find such a boulder anywhere around the lake. Then from a casual statement by a neighbor, and following his friend Joe Wolf’s suggestion, Dirk searches the south woods and finds the mysterious boulder. Unfortunately, the discovery of the boulder later called “The Jesus Rock” leads Dirk into a web of lies, deceit, and eventually murder, perpetuated by three women who have more on their minds than Dirk’s body.

Fire destroys a supposedly empty seasonal cottage, but when a candle is identified as the cause of the fire and a strange symbol has been scrawled on a wall, Dirk Adler wants to know what the symbol means. When a second fire is set and a body is found inside, Dirk decides to find out what is going on. His investigations and his attempts to end the arsons at Amston Lake almost cost him his life.

During a romantic picnic on Dibella's Island on Amston Lake, Dirk and Margot notice lights moving under the water. While investigating, Dirk finds a rare Dutch gold coin on the Sunken Island. How did a 300-year-old coin end up in Amston Lake? Having the coin puts Dirk’s life in danger. With help from a woman he knew years ago, they learn who wants to kill Dirk and where more coins can be found.

Joe Wolf hires Dirk Adler to convert an abandoned mansion into a business-meeting place. When Dirk becomes curious about the discrepancy in the room measurements, he opens a Pandora’s Box that lands him into a complicated plot of science and murder. Dirk decides to become a detective and follow discrepancies, false information, and clues while tracking the identities of seven men in a painting. However, Dirk uncovers strange information that certain retired scientists do not want uncovered. Those scientists are not happy to have Dirk dig into their past and after warning him, decide to eliminate the problem.

Margot St. Ronan asked Dirk Adler to accompany her to obtain a psychic reading from a local medium, Madam Dianne Teratoid. Although Dirk conceded to accompany her, he felt that psychic readings were foolish and a waste of money. Dirk changed his opinion when Madam Teratoid revealed a fact about Margot that she had hidden in her past. When a possible enemy of Dirk’s shoots at him and almost kills him, Dirk finds out that he now has premonitions and can make accurate predictions. He finds that this new ability is a curse and not a blessing. Going to Madam Teratoid for help, Dirk receives some valuable training that changes the curse into an advantage. Dirk’s new found power helps him to save a life and solve an insurance case. When he and Joe Wolf use it for making money, the ability leads them to unforeseen problems.

Dirk Adler becomes worried when he hears construction noise next door to his cottage on the usually quiet road near Amston Lake. The construction stops when a human skull is unearthed. Investigation by the State of Connecticut Archeologist reveals a grave where a man died from a deadly disease. Dirk, checking the skeleton after a heavy rainstorm, notices a ring on one of the finger bones. When he removes the ring, Dirk unleashes a terrible vampire into the lake area. Fearing for his and Margot’s life, he must discover how to use the ring to stop the vampire from killing innocent people and return him permanently to the grave.
