Dirk Adler becomes worried when he hears construction noise next door to his cottage on the usually quiet road near Amston Lake. The construction stops when a human skull is unearthed. Investigation by the State of Connecticut Archeologist reveals a grave where a man died from a deadly disease. Dirk, checking the skeleton after a heavy rainstorm, notices a ring on one of the finger bones. When he removes the ring, Dirk unleashes a terrible vampire into the lake area. Fearing for his and Margot’s life, he must discover how to use the ring to stop the vampire from killing innocent people and return him permanently to the grave.

Dirk Adler is approached by a young college student to help her find a magnetic boulder that apparently was predicted by Nikola Tesla to be in the Amston Lake area. Dirk takes the challenge realizing that it would be almost impossible to find such a boulder anywhere around the lake. Then from a casual statement by a neighbor, and following his friend Joe Wolf’s suggestion, Dirk searches the south woods and finds the mysterious boulder. Unfortunately, the discovery of the boulder later called “The Jesus Rock” leads Dirk into a web of lies, deceit, and eventually murder, perpetuated by three women who have more on their minds than Dirk’s body.

With help from a woman he knew years ago, they learn who wants to kill Dirk and where more coins can be found.

Joe Wolf hires Dirk Adler to convert an abandoned mansion into a business-meeting place. When Dirk becomes curious about the discrepancy in the room measurements, he opens a Pandora’s Box that lands him into a complicated plot of science and murder. Dirk decides to become a detective and follow discrepancies, false information, and clues while tracking the identities of seven men in a painting. However, Dirk uncovers strange information that certain retired scientists do not want uncovered. Those scientists are not happy to have Dirk dig into their past and after warning him, decide to eliminate the problem.

Margot St. Ronan asked Dirk Adler to accompany her to obtain a psychic reading from a local medium, Madam Dianne Teratoid. Although Dirk conceded to accompany her, he felt that psychic readings were foolish and a waste of money. Dirk changed his opinion when Madam Teratoid revealed a fact about Margot that she had hidden in her past. When a possible enemy of Dirk’s shoots at him and almost kills him, Dirk finds out that he now has premonitions and can make accurate predictions. He finds that this new ability is a curse and not a blessing. Going to Madam Teratoid for help, Dirk receives some valuable training that changes the curse into an advantage. Dirk’s new found power helps him to save a life and solve an insurance case. When he and Joe Wolf use it for making money, the ability leads them to unforeseen problems.

Larry E. Zimmerman graduated from the University of Hartford with a major in mathematics and a minor in literature. He worked for IBM as a Technical Industry Specialist and retired after 25 years. During that time, he taught programming classes, wrote many application programs and manuals for the banking industry. In retirement, he teaches poetry and short story writing to adults and senior citizens. Larry has won a number of awards for his poetry and short stories. He is known in Amston CT, for his mystery books that take place in the local environment.
