About this series

This month the theme of The Prometheus Post is Margaret Thatcher and her ideas.

We have a massive feature on Lady Thatcher in champions of freedom. Charting her history and what made this great woman. The state of the nation when she was in opposition. What she achieved in government.

Thatcherism is strongly associated with sound economics. One of the key ideas she championed was that of Privatisation.

In a special feature Prometheus will explain a new model of privatisation devised by this magazine. A model that has all the original strengths of the classical policy, but none of its weaknesses.

A model which Prometheus will then apply to show how we can end the terrible energy crisis that man in British society face.

In this last month of so there have been some major political events. Namely the budget and the recent local elections. This month in The Prometheus Post this magazine Prometheus will conduct a thorough analysis of the government budget.

Explaining what the policies of My Osborne mean for the country. Demonstrating the strengths and weaknesses of his budget and comparing what he has done, with what the other parties have proposed.

Lady Thatcher was a symbol of, among many other things, proper free market capitalism.

Corporatism as an idea is one completely at odds with free market governance, as it is one at odds with sound economic policy. As far too many corporatists masquerade as capitalists, Prometheus will explain in this issue the difference between the two ideas.

Prometheus is no lover of charlatans. On the contrary he considers it a journalistic obligation to expose them.

Within the pages of this months magazine, Prometheus will demonstrate why there is nothing egalitarian about the Labour Party. While explaining also why the Unions are not on the side of the working class.

Freedom of speech is and has been especially under attack of late. Prometheus will show how new press regulations are a massive threat to freedom of speech and to democracy itself.

While Leveson and press regulation still remains big news regarding to threats to freedom of speech there remains other elements of existing government policy that also act to strangle freedom of expression. Prometheus will show how the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act is now being used to try and silence whistleblowers.

Thatcher's last stand as prime minister was against the European Union. Prometheus reports on where the British political debate is now, regarding British independence.

This and more in this months edition of Prometheus.

The Prometheus Post is a monthly libertarian-conservative electronic magazine. It offers in-depth analysis of important political issues. Specifically, the Post explores civil rights issues, offers analysis of law enforcement models, advocates free market economic principles, provides hands-on information for running a business and also advocates British withdrawal from the European Union through reasoned critique. The Prometheus Post also offers monthly special features and general political commentary. In the February 2013 edition the Prometheus Post will be doing a profile of perhaps the greatest civil rights leader of the twentieth century – the Reverend Martin Luther King. It will also be exposing the failure of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA), making the case for gay marriage and explaining the constitutional need for an elected House of Lords and a bill of rights. Last November saw the introduction of elected police commissioners. The Prometheus Post will explain why this is such an important reform, a vital safeguard for our liberty and an important factor in defending our security. It is often the political Left that claims that it is they who best represent the needs of ordinary people. The Prometheus Post puts this claim to the test and examines if it is indeed the Left that does the most to help those with the least, or if in fact it is the Right. In this issue the Prometheus Post will also examine what economic measures we need to reform our banking sector, while explaining why state-controlled banking is such a poor idea for us, in terms of both our freedom and our prosperity. We live in a period of great economic strife, with the banking crisis, the late credit crisis and now the Euro crisis. The Prometheus Post this month in business 101 will be covering business costing, explaining many ways in which business costs can be driven down – improving the chances of business survival. Often the pro-European, without challenge, makes the bold claim that the United Kingdom wields far more power within the European Union than it ever could outside it. This month the Prometheus Post as part of its on-going campaign for British independence will demonstrate why this claim is just hot air. We will also be explaining the latest in a long line of power grabs being made in the present by the European Union. Also in this month’s issue there will be a full analysis of the leaders’ speeches at conference and an examination of what Alex Salmond is offering the Scottish people

The main focus of Prometheus this month is on Big Brother. Big Brother was a term first coined by the author and journalist George Orwell. A term that, even half a century later, is taken to mean the disproportionate use of surveillance. In this edition of The Prometheus Post this magazine will be doing a profile of George Orwell. It will explain his beginnings, his history and, most important of all, his ideas. Under Labour, Great Britain was the most watched nation on earth, with more intrusive CCTV in operation in the United Kingdom than even Communist China. Labour justified this mass invasion of privacy on the grounds that we would all have more security. In the present, a data communications bill is sitting in parliament which, if passed as it is, will lead to the creation of a massive information surveillance network, allowing the state to monitor our calls, emails and web browsing. Again, the government is justifying this on the grounds that it will lead to a safer Britain. In a breaking report The Prometheus Post will show that Big Brother, the technological systems that intrude on our privacy with the massive claim that they make us safer, is not fit for purpose. The Prometheus Post has solid evidence that these illiberal systems actually decrease our safety: the final justification for removing them entirely. For if these illiberal systems don't even make us safer, there remains no reason to keep using them at all. One of the main themes in George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four was that when the news is controlled by the state, it always leads to the state becoming corrupt and acting to excess. It is fitting, then, that in this issue Prometheus will lay bare what Lord Leveson really suggests in his report, and Prometheus will explain that if these suggestions were ever implemented, as Labour and the Liberal Democrats want them to be, they would effectively end press freedom in the United Kingdom, while hampering investigative journalism to such a degree that the news would effectively be suppressed. The 2015 general election is not as far away as it seems. The Conservative Party, whom Prometheus supports, needs to push a little harder in order to return a Tory majority. In a detailed report, Prometheus will explain what the Conservative Party needs to do to win in 2015. Also in this issue, Prometheus will expose the democratic deficiencies of the European Union. Prometheus will also explain what refinements need to be made to the welfare reforms of Iain Duncan Smith to best aid the poor, and, as part of this magazine’s business series, will explain what principles can be used to maximise workforce effectiveness.
