Danny Phillips, gun in hand, enters the dark shack. In the middle of the room, he pulls a hanging light switch. The bulb moves frenetically filling the room with bursts of light and shadow. Danny steadies the light only to see a set of shackles on the wall and dried blood on the floor. "OH GOD no, no, no, what did I do?" Danny falls to his knees, "This is my fault, I should have done more." * * * Growing up in Brooklyn, the son of an honest beat cop, Danny Phillips wanted it all and he flew high on Wall Street; blondes, bourbon and success. But when that came crashing down, he found himself working as a cop in Beachside PD—running scams for his Brooklyn buddy Angelo Tedeschi and the crooked Captain Hagen. The last thing this charming entrepreneur wanted to be was a cop, but due to his Wall Street smarts and his unexpected bravery in the line of duty, Hagen quickly promoted him to the rank of Detective Specialist in charge of the Missing Persons Bureau. His complex relationship with fellow officer Anna Perez and an encounter with Rudy, a badly scarred young boy, slowly began to soften his amoral behavior. But he hasn’t reached redemption yet and when he ignores a string of missing children cases and the bodies of two kidnapped young boys are discovered, he is suspended from duty. Danny is faced with a choice—continue with his amoral ways or to become the type of cop he swore he'd never be. Battling his inner demons, this reluctant knight begins his ultimate quest for redemption. Will he turn away from his sexual escapades with his posse of blondes and hook up with Anna Perez? Will he set aside his illegal schemes and find the killer? And what will Danny do when he is confronted by the ultimate horror of his actions?

Once again, this unique father and son writing team brings us back to the world of Beachside PD. With the ease of master story-tellers, they weave an intricate web of mystery and suspense. This time the drumbeats are faster and the plots, even more devious. Meet Detective Lieutenant Robert M. Zaragossa—the Jawndari Romano (Gypsy Cop). For almost two decades he has threaded his way through the secret world of the Gypsies, solving crimes from simple fortune-telling scams to the uncovering of counterfeiters, to the hunt for the murderer of a heroic war veteran. Danny Phillips, Beachside PD’s Reluctant Knight is back on the job along with his partner, Anna Perez. Follow them as they enter the world of the Seminole Nation hunting for a missing young woman; and their coming together as a family. Follow Elysa Perez, a blossoming teenage girl seeking answers to life; Harry Buckley, a sportswriter covering the Super Bowl; Lolita, a saucy island waitress; Bull Belinsky, caught in bed next to his dead girlfriend; old friends like Jay Gardner, Aiden Fitzpatrick, Chief Chamberlain and Johnny Harjo are back. Also meet new friends, and new bad guys. And an old enemy returns, former BPD Captain, the malignant James Hagen. As in Beachside PD: The Reluctant Knight, the crimes are real; so be prepared for the hot action of the hunt, as the bad guys are tracked down and brought to justice.

From the authors of Beachside PD: The Reluctant Knight and Beachside PD: The Gypsy Hunter comes this thrilling prequel to the series: Beachside PD: Cities of Sand and Stone. It tells the story of Angelo Tedeschi, described by his closest friend Danny as “. . . a vicious thug certainly, a psychopath probably, and yet caring to those very few he loved.” Angelo Tedeschi was forged by his father’s fists, his mother’s love, and shaped on the streets of Brooklyn. Tempered by his friendship with Danny Phillips and Jay Gardner, he survived to eventually work for mob boss Eddie “Mambo” Salerno. When Angelo loses his fiery temper and roughs up a high ranking Mafioso, Salerno has to hustle him out of town to keep him alive. Sent to Beachside, Florida to keep a close eye on degenerate gambler and crooked police captain Jimmy Hagen, he becomes—of all things—a cop. Watching Hagen isn’t Angelo’s only job, he’s also responsible for looking after Salerno’s criminal empire. A job complicated by Iraq war hero and fellow police officer, Michael Frakes, the jealously-fueled Joey Salerno and the vicious Russian crime boss, Viktor Matyushenko. From the stone city of Brooklyn to the sand city of Beachside, Angelo’s story is one of constant betrayal. If you are a reader who prefers realism along with hard-hitting action and savvy dialogue, then you’ll enjoy the third novel from this father/son writing team.
