About this series

A 29,000 word novella, Young Blood is the third story in the An Accidental Vampire series based on a character from the novel
Blood Justice.

In 1648 France, the young blood vampire Simone Gireaux, a farmer's widow, wants only to quietly learn to live among mortals. But, by witnessing the murder of a Duchesse before she reaches the mountain town of Noir Montagne, she finds her learning curve quicker and more dangerous than she was prepared for.
Partnering with Jacques Fashette, the Duke's vampire security chief, surviving assassination attempts, and sword fight which she is woefully ill prepared for, she comes to know that the aristocracy is no stranger to love, betrayal, and murder. In the final confrontation truth leads to tragedy as well as prosperity.

In 1650 Simone Gireaux was a widower living with her late husband's family. Then the Marauders descended on the town. She woke the next day, her village destroyed, her family dead. And the sun burning her skin. She had no one to teach her how to be a vampire. Yet she persevered and survived to live in California and meet Justine Kroft in my novel Blood Justice. An Accidental Vampire is the first chapter in her odyssey.

New Blood is the second story of a series following the undead life of the beautiful Simone Gireaux, the 360 year old French vampire first met in the contemporary novels Blood Justice and Blood on the Water. In 1648 France a few weeks after Simone Gireaux accidentally becomes a vampire she is headed for Noir Montagne, the bright town on the other side of a lake. There, she hopes to learn how to survive among mortals. But screams in the forest lead her to a small settlement taken captive by a vampire and his mortal minions. Le Taureau urges her to join him and his Drake Family. She is Vampire and they of the settlement are but mortals. But a marauding band of vampires destroyed her village, murdered her family and friends, and left her for dead. The desire to avenge the deaths of her village and family burns deep within her, so she has no love for her fellow creatures. She will save the captive mortals, or die the true death trying. She spends weeks keeping out of sight, nursing a retired vampire hunter. Attacked by some of his old enemies she learns an important lesson of survival - one needs friends to survive - and revenge takes time.

David Burton is an American writer living in sunny Southern California. He traveled by motorcycle through Mexico, US, Canada and Alaska. From motorcycles he turned to the ocean, building and sailing his own boats to Mexico, Tahiti, Hawaii, and through the Panama Canal to Florida. He spent a lot of time reading while on the water, so he decided to write books he would have wanted to read at sea.Having swallowed the anchor he now mops floors and collects trash for money, writes for a living, and has become a (temporarily?) unrequited sailor.
