About this series

Fleet Manteios never wanted to be captain of the airship Lady Firene. Her brother has been mortally wounded, though, leaving her in charge of their beloved ship. Her first job? Find a way to do the impossible and save Daryus' life.

Reunited with Shan, himself on the run, she heads east. She hopes she'll find a magical cure for her brother amongst Shan's dangerous former masters – if she can reach them. The eastern seas are being plagued by unnatural storms, and a captive magician seems to be behind them.

Leaving Fleet with a choice. With Daryus' time running out, she can search for a cure in lands she knows, or risk it all to follow the magician and untangle the chains around him. That way lies a whole new world, stranger and more dangerous than any skies she's flown before.

Succeed, and she'll find someone powerful enough to save Daryus – but fail, and she'll lose everything she loves.

A floating city. A pirate running from her past. A stolen trinket that could tear her world apart.   Fleet and her brother Daryus have made a career out of stealing from other pirates. With their beloved airship and a loyal crew, they're unstoppable – until a raid goes wrong and they end up fleeing for their lives.   Except there's nowhere for them to run. The city they call home has come under siege from within, and Fleet's at the heart of it all. Soon, she's attracting the wrong sort of attention from every quarter: vengeful pirate captains, otherworldly wolves, her estranged husband – and the mysterious Shan, who knows more than he's letting on.   If Fleet can't put things right, the new life she's built for herself will be destroyed, and it's going to take the whole city with it.

Arjipur: a jungle haven built by pirates, exactly the sort of place Fleet Manteios and her brother Daryus should feel right at home – and somewhere they could make their fortune, if half the city wasn't out for their blood. Not only has Daryus made enemies by dabbling in the trade of the semi-magical drug gilgesh, but he and Fleet are about to run into an old enemy. Caria Maharin is an enforcer and head of the notorious Midnight Division – and she's also the former owner of the airship Lady Firene. Nor is she the only one with an interest in the ship, or its crew: Arjipur has a new admiral, commandeering airships in the name of a war against an unknown enemy, and he's got the Lady in his sights. As Fleet fights to protect her brother, her ship and the city, she's faced with a conundrum of her own: there are two very different men in Arjipur, both dear to her, and she's going to have to decide where her heart lies.

Home should be where the heart is, but for Fleet Manteios it's nothing but a place of obligations and bad memories. When she's drawn back to Requies to attempt a reconciliation with her dying father, she finds it a changed city. Her estranged husband might still be there, but there's a fresh sense of hope and freedom on the streets – and there's trouble, too. The last person Fleet expected to see has made her way to the city, and what's followed her could put every life in danger. Fleet's loyalties are about to be divided, between the family she abandoned, the friend who was once a foe, and the city she fled from – and which might not want to be saved.

Amy Sanderson

Amy has been writing for as long as she can remember, inspired by a childhood fascination with books. By the time she was fifteen and confronted with school 'careers guidance', she'd decided being an author was the only profession she could possibly enjoy - which, of course, led to a string of other roles, including Archaeology student, bookseller and library assistant. These days, she lives in the North Yorkshire countryside with her partner, where they run a bed & breakfast business and smallholding. When she's not working or writing, Amy enjoys reading, gaming, photography, and trying to pretend she's a grown-up.
