The Alarian Empire continues to expand its borders but with the destruction of the Emperor's Anger by the Arrogant Lion it has taken notice of the humans.
As the modern Earthers mobilize and relearn the art of war in order to defend Earth, the Callahnity, the covert scientific organization of the Alarian Empire moves the Imperial Fleet to find out all it can about these humans and the promising tech they use.
The crew of the Arrogant Lion and Captain Shelby Pickett of Fleet Intelligence are tasked with stopping a breakthrough of Defensive Line Wolf and keeping the location of Earth from being known to the Alarians.

Of the billions that have ever lived on Earth, 29,755 have been chosen. Slaves of the Roman Empire, store clerks from Shakespearean England, American College students avoiding the Vietnam draft, and blacksmiths from feudal Japan; all removed from different times, places, and circumstances of Earth’s history. Each selected by a mysterious, seemingly omnipotent, alien race called the Outfitters because they had ‘no discernible impact on Earth’s history’. These diverse individuals are given a choice to join a fleet in order to fight a power hungry race called the Alarians who threaten Earth or simply strike out on their own. Leo was in his sophomore year in college due to graduate in 1989 when the Outfitters took him. Now he finds himself thrust into command of a Reconnaissance ship with a crew of 13 including a Samoan mechanic, an Irish Miller, and an American frontiersman from 1767.

Each selected by a mysterious, seemingly omnipotent, alien race called the Outfitters because they had ‘no discernible impact on Earth’s history’. These diverse individuals join a unified Fleet to defend an Earth that moved on without them. The crew of the Free Lunch is tasked with doing emergency rescue work in the vacuum of space. Max was studying Agriculture at the University of Somalia in the year 2020, his co-pilot Kim is a frustrated Korean military man who believes Rescue duties are beneath him, Jill is a Quaker, Philly is a crafty Elvis fan, Gwen is a hippy chick out of time, Roberto is an orphaned house painter from Cuba, Paddy watched Babe Ruth hit a homer and Sven well he does not say much.

Arthur wanted to see the world, but when the Outfitter plucked him from his home in the Canadian Rockies his plans were changed. Instead of seeing the world he would see the universe, and not as a member of the Fleet fighting a war he wanted no part of. Slipping away one night he took a fast freighter and left the Fleet behind with plans to see everything. He would be a freighter captain landing on new worlds, seeing strange sites was his main goal, until he met Levimap, she would change all his plans.
