All Ceridwyn Brent wants is a normal life, well, as normal as it gets when you are the only living sorceress in the world, your lover is a half-succubus, and you have a werewolf for a mate. Work is keeping her busy enough; she is trying to capitalise on her research with her boss by building a power generator which uses magic to generate electricity, and she has a PhD thesis interview to get through so she can finally be Doctor Brent. Then mysterious, dark figures are seen watching the Battersea pack, paying particular attention to Ceri. The Greycoats, the supernatural branch of the Metropolitan Police, turn up to talk to Lily because men have been dying, apparently the result of a succubus feeding on them. To make matters worse, Lily is having dreams about the deaths and is starting to believe that she might be responsible. As Lily’s control over her demon side weakens, and it looks as though her father may have returned to Earth, Ceri must face off against the dark magicians pulling their strings from the shadow world under the bright face of London. As an added extra, included in this book is an unpublished short story, Black Moonlight. Ceri, Lily, and Michael go to a rock concert where Michael’s half-brother is the base player.

Ceridwyn Brent had a fairly easy life, kept safe from the supernatural dangers of the world around her by the enchantments her parents placed on her when she was a baby. Then her parents died in a car accident leaving their daughter a well-protected nervous wreck, afraid of travel and especially cars, and unwilling to leave the house. Then she met Lily Carpenter, a half-succubus trying to get her life back on track and they helped each other back to something like a normal life. As normal as it gets when your house looks like the Munsters were the chief designers and your housekeeper is an enigmatic fairy. It was Lily who persuaded Ceri to apply for the job as research assistant to Doctor Cheryl Tennant, lead researcher in quantum thaumatology at the London Metropolitan University. Doctor Tennant is locked in a battle with a better funded team at Cambridge to discover the fundamental particle of magic, the Null Thaumiton. Everyone knows the race has been heating up with both sides close to a result, but there was no way Ceri could have expected sabotage and murder to be involved in an academic contest. Soon Ceri and Lily are in the middle of an academic war, surrounded by wizards, werewolves, and demons, and in the meantime there’s still that elusive particle to uncover.

Her doctorate is a shoe-in and her personal life with Lily, her half-succubus “pet” has never been better. But something is going on among the werewolves. But as Ceri tries to deal with the knowledge she has gained, and cope with giving a lecture at a prestigious academic conference, an old adversary returns, determined to destroy her. As the bodies start to pile up and no one seems able to find the murderer, Ceri and Lily, her half-succubus lover, must go out on their own and seek help from their sworn enemies in order to fight back. Amidst the chaos and death, Ceri must still seek out and unlock the secret of the dragons and their blood. Her future could depend upon it.

A werewolf throws himself in front of a light-rail train, apparently being chased, though there is nothing visible following him. When another wolf from the same pack is found ripped apart in his home, the hunt for a supernatural killer begins. The trail leads them to the darker side of London and into the underworld of illegal porn and snuff films which Lily is uncomfortably familiar with. Facing personal tragedy and Lily’s ugly past, the couple must ultimately face a killer bent on revenge who cannot die.

Ceridwyn Brent and Cheryl Tennant are having a very busy year. There is the long-term project to build a ley line bringing energy from the German Rift to London where it will be converted into electricity to run the entire city. There is the annual Thaumatology Conference, this year based in London. And everything seems to be going remarkably well, even if people are still thinking the world might end before New Year. Then the conference is threatened by a group of militant scientists and there are growing rumours of a war between demons and dragons which has been going on for millennia, but may be about to flare up again on Earth. It is time to pick sides and decide upon loyalties, and Ceri has dragon ancestors while Lily Carpenter, her lover, is half-demon. When colleagues and friends begin to vanish or fall, can the two friends keep their relationship together?

Ceridwyn Brent and Lily Carpenter are on top of the world as they attend the New Year Ball at the Chinese Embassy. Attending are the Prime Minister of Britain, the President of the United States, and Huanglong, the Chinese Imperial Dragon. It seems as though they have really entered into prestigious circles when Ceri and her boss, Cheryl Tennant, are then invited to a function at the US embassy. Then Ceri is accused of attempting to assassinate President Wilson, and Ceri and Lily fiend themselves hip-deep in a plot designed to bring America to a state of war. With an old enemy emerging from the shadows, the American government hunting them, and very few friends to help, they must find a way to stop the plot and get out of it alive.

Ceridwyn Brent has invented a way of creating an artificial ley line and is planning to use it to generate free, clean electricity. To do that, however, she needs to start the line in an area of high magical energy and in Europe that means the German Rift. At the end of World War II, a series of huge explosions in German cities cracked open the world, letting demons and fae run rampant, and that rift line is still a huge area of high magic. So, Ceri and her friend, Lily Carpenter, must walk into what is left of Hamburg to initiate the ley line. Something is wrong in the ruins of Hamburg, however. Sensitives are having strange dreams of some old evil rising from underground and the shadows seem to move on their own. Something bad has woken up and it seems to be fascinated by Ceri. It also has far more extreme motives and, when it follows Ceri and Lily back to London, blood and chaos are not far behind

In the final battle with the dragons, Lily Carpenter sacrificed herself to save Ceridwyn Brent, and the world. There was not even a body to bury; she vanished in a blaze of light leaving Ceri to mourn her passing. Then a revelation suggests that Lily might not be dead, just elsewhere. But even for one of the most powerful magicians since the Shattering, walking into Hell to get her back may be one journey too far.
