About this series
Uneasy Alliance is the fourth story in the Tales from Seelie High series. It mostly takes place between the events of the second and third story and narrates the struggles of both Kira and Leena as they attempt to come to terms with their families, with each other, and with their own place in a very unusual town.
After the somewhat clandestine town meeting at the local pub, Kira is pretty sure that Leena hates her and she doesn’t know why. But being hated by a complete stranger is only one of her problems. After opening a magical door to the Otherworld, hardly anyone will talk to her at school, but everyone wants her to explain the door and what happened when she opened it. Since she doesn’t know, she’s getting a bit frustrated. Not to mention that she’s still reeling from her parents’ divorce. With everything going wrong, Kira is ready to pack up and get out of New Elphame for good.
Leena is trying to come to terms with being a regular teenage girl who just happens to have wings and the memories of dozens of past lives crammed in her head. Some days she can’t even remember who she is, but maybe hiding out in her room isn’t the best plan. As she struggles to find a balance between her current and past selves, she’ll also have to find a way to keep all of her people safe. She’s pretty sure that as long as Kira stays as far away as possible, she might be able to do just that.
Follow Kira and Leena as they face their problems and try to find a way to work together to keep their friends and their town safe.
Titles in the series (4)
- New Girl
1
Kira can see right away that there's something strange about her new school, but what do a book of fairy tales, a ridiculous prophecy, and a secret portal have to do with her? She'll find out on her first day of high school. "Tales from Seelie High" is a collection of young adult fantasy short stories that follows Kira and her friends as they explore the unusual, and possibly magical, heritage of their town. This edition also includes a short prologue and bonus character interview that were originally published on the author's website.
- Leena and the Giant
2
When Leena shows up to the not-at-all-official town meeting organized by her mother to discuss the recent events that have turned New Elphame on its head, she isn't thinking about magical doors or strange happenings. All she can think about is how for one night she wants to be a normal teenage girl—possibly one who gets kissed by her hunky football star boyfriend. As she stares at her reflection in a broken mirror, she decides that she can be someone different. But Leena has no idea what surprises the night will hold for her. Will she get her first kiss? Will someone dare to cross through the mysterious door to discover what really lays beyond? And what secrets lie with the gruesome Giant in the town pub? The second installment in the "Tales from Seelie High" series of short stories continues the adventure began by Kira Nichols in "New Girl." It also includes three shorter tales involving characters from New Elphame and the world beyond the door: two short scenes that depict what happened when the door was opened in "New Girl" and an interview with Leena, conducted by a Seelie High student reporter.
- New Boy
3
Dylan Blake has never had a home before and he isn't expecting to find one in New Elphame, Michigan. But his new town is nothing like he expected. Between the foster parents who don't seem quite sure what to make of him and the kids at school who act a little afraid of him, Dylan is pretty sure that he's not going to stick around too long. But then someone tells his a crazy story about another new kid at Seelie High and the mysterious door she opened. It's all a little hard to accept, but Dylan might start believing when he steps through the door himself. Find out what life is like on the other side of the door in this third installment in the Tales from Seelie High collection. Whether you have been keeping up with the series or this is your first introduction to the students of Seelie High School, you will find yourself drawn into the mystery of New Elphame's strange, and possibly magical, past and the exciting adventure of its future. This edition also includes two mini-stories involving the students of Seelie High—a collection of interviews conducted by the intrepid Greer Douglas, student reporter for the Daily Chronicles, and a personal account of one student’s discovery of a magical heritage.
