Kirkland is one of the most notorious facilities in South Carolina with four inmates being strangled to death there in 2022. After an evaluation period, the department of corrections will make a final decision on where Alex Murdaugh will spend the rest of his life and will be shipped to that facility after his evaluation period ends.
