Description

Well, on the plus side, the Lakers' 132-111 loss to the Clippers (clean sweep by their crosstown rivals!) isn't the absolute worst of the season. For the time being, the recent debacle against the Pelicans still feels like the clubhouse leader. But it was nonetheless still a disaster. After cutting a double digit deficit down to just three points heading into halftime, on the heels of Austin Reaves throwing two fast break passes that made him look like "Hillbilly Magic," the wheels fell the hell off in the third quarter. How bad? Try "four points in the first six minutes" bad. Throw in Reggie Jackson absolutely torching the Lakers defense (and in particular, Russell Westbrook) to the tune of 36 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, Dwight Howard looking absolutely unplayable against Ivica Zubac, and LeBron James' periodic heroics ultimately going nowhere, and the Lakers find themselves in serious danger of missing the play-in tournament altogether. So what can be done? Insert shrug emoji. As this game demonstrated, the difference between the Clippers' supporting cast and the Lakers' is night and day. The limits of so many minimum players has long since caught up to this team, and as Frank Vogel noted after the game, he's tried damn near everything under the sun to come up with a solution.Except, of course, playing Westbrook off the bench, which Vogel acknowledged has been discussed. Which is, to say the least, a political football. (Or basketball, if you will.)Hosts: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT ONE: Reaction to the loss, and how the wheels fell off so badly.SEGMENT TWO: Why the Clippers' supporting cast is so much better equipped to weather the absence of their stars than the Lakers.SEGMENT THREE: Vogel acknowledged that Westbrook coming off the bench is on the table.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!PrizePicksCheck out PrizePicks.com and use promo code: “NBA” or go to your app store and download the app today.
