Payton insists it was about providing a spark for the offense, not Wilson’s $37 million injury guarantee. Payton’s frustration, however, had been growing with Wilson since the two became an odd pairing this offseason. The easy decision is to move on. The hard part is putting together a better team next season given the $85 million in salary cap ramifications.
