The awareness of the climate emergency is rising among all sectors of
society. In the corporate world, the pressure on organizations to execute more ambitious commitments to mitigate their carbon footprint and environmental impact is mounting. Both internal and external stakeholders, such as investors, clients, employees, and commercial partners are increasingly scrutinizing the actions and outcomes from organizations in the sustainability front. Under this context, a growing number of organizations is pursuing the concept of the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit. At the front of this, dedicated sustainability teams are emerging across different sectors to lead the sustainable shift. Monitoring the environmental impact of operations, designing sustainable products and services, and executing strategies to improve the sustainability credentials of companies are among the duties of a sustainability professional’s job description.
