The Mexican cartels and the men who lead them are far from stupid and they understand how supply and demand works. They also understand the logistics involved with wide open spaces and lax law enforcement. Using their time tested formula of sending out advance teams of cartel operatives with the express intent of crushing all local competition and paving the way for the the cartels to truly lock things down.
