Stephen Curry led the team in +/- and Kevin Durant had a team high 33 points. The Dubs followed it up by posting a defensive rating of 118 in a loss to the Nuggets in Denver. In both games, GSW allowed at least 5 players from the opposition to reach double figures. There are bright spots however. Damian Jones got his first extended runs of 2018 in the two games, igniting the Warriors with a monster block against the Nuggets on Saturday. Kevon Looney played some solid minutes as well. David West was away from the team attending the funeral of Rasual Butler, his close friend. The Warriors have two meetings against the Thunder coming up—OKC is another team that has beaten the Warriors this year. So the defensive intensity will have to pick up at some point. They only put up 12 points in the fourth quarter, while giving up 28, and were no match for LaMarcus Aldridge's onslaught (33 points on 22 shots, 12 boards). Quinn Cook had another 20 point outing but was inefficient, and Nick Young didn't make any of his 5 three-point attempts. Draymond Green left the game early with a contusion in his pelvic area. Quinn Cook has been doing his very best Stephen Curry impression over the last few games, including going 5-7 from three against the Kings and against the Suns. Though he had 4 turnovers against the Spurs, he played well in 38 minutes. His Player Impact Estimate from the game against the Kings (22.7) shows how integral he was in that game despite the loss. The man with the baby face did some weekend assassination, casually putting up 45 points on 8 three-point field goals in under 30 minutes. His continued torrent of scoring earned him Western Conference Player of the Week honors. Warriors rookie Jordan Bell is playing well as well, but hasn't had as much of an opportunity to shine since Curry came back. Most of that is just matchups however, and Bell will have plenty more chances to match his 20/10 performance from December 22. The Nuggets are coming to town tonight, but will face a different Warriors team than the one they beat in December.
