Today’s movie is The Thing directed by John Carpenter.Once again, John Carpenter proves himself to be a skilled and versatile director, cursed with being too far ahead of his time. The Thing, like Halloween, feels genre-defining. As with Carpenter’s other films, The Thing isn’t perfect - like we’ve mentioned in previous podcasts, we feel like his films lack an emotional connection to the characters.
