Description

‘Is there a way of life, having understood pleasure and fear, which is joyous, which is enjoyment, not the carrying over of pleasure from day to day?’
This week’s episode on Joy has five sections.
The first extract (2:42) is from Krishnamurti’s fourth talk in New Delhi 1966, titled: Joy Is Entirely Different From Pleasure.
The second extract (13:41) is from the fourth talk in Saanen 1977, titled: Thought Turns Joy Into Pleasure.
The third extract (27:18) is from Krishnamurti’s fifth talk in Saanen 1970, titled: A Joy Untouched by Thought and Pleasure.
The fourth extract (42:29) is from the eighth talk in Bombay 1962, titled: Simplicity and Joy.
The final extract in this episode (1:01:55) is from a direct recording by Krishnamurti in 1983, titled: A Sense of Great Joy.
Each episode of the Krishnamurti podcast features carefully selected extracts from the archives. The aim is to represent different aspects of Krishnamurti’s radical approach to many of the issues and questions we all face in our lives.
This week’s theme is Joy. Upcoming themes are Illusion, Virtue and Division.

What are you doing with your life? Can anyone show you the way, or must you be a light to yourself? Do we see the urgency of change? One of the greatest spiritual teachers and philosophers of all time, J. Krishnamurti challenges us to question all that we know and discover our true nature in the here and now. This official podcast from Krishnamurti Foundation Trust is now in its third season of weekly episodes. Season 1 (Episodes 1-50) features conversations between Krishnamurti and luminaries from many paths, along with readings of the classic book Commentaries on Living by actor Terence Stamp. Episode 51 onwards features carefully chosen extracts based on a theme explored by Krishnamurti. The extracts from our archives have been carefully selected to represent his different approaches to each of these universal and timelessly relevant themes. Krishnamurti deeply inspired many well known figures, such as Bruce Lee, Eckhart Tolle, Jack Nicholson, Van Morrison, Deepak Chopra, George Lucas, Aldous Huxley and Jack Kornfield.
