Although I spent the majority of my 20s working as a dental hygienist, my passion has always been in the kitchen. I love learning how to cook as many things from scratch as possible. While working as a dental hygienist, my passion for scratch cooking grew into a passion for knowing where my food comes from. I started sourcing my meats, produce, and dairy from local farmers. I learned how to preserve local foods and build my pantry over five years while we lived in a small suburban home. A couple of years ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to buy a home on a small one-acre parcel of land. This is where I started my homesteading journey and where I decided to grow as much of my food as possible! In January 2021, I started the Acre Homestead YouTube channel. My initial motivation for the channel was to document my second year of gardening. I never expected the channel to grow as quickly as it has—what started as a personal project grew into a full-time job within a matter of months! I am honored that I get to share my passion for homegrown, homemade, and locally-sourced food with this amazing homesteading community!
