Jimmie Johnson and The American Legion returned to glory in the XPEL 375 at Texas Motor Speedway on March 20, 2022, as the second-year NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver competed in an oval race for the first time in an Indy car. The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion delivered with his best INDYCAR finish ever – sixth place on the 1.50-mile Texas Motor Speedway, a track where he is NASCAR’s all-time winningest driver.
Pit Pass Indy host Bruce Martin was there to capture Johnson’s reaction from the time he climbed out of his No. 48 Carvana/American Legion Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing on pit lane at Texas Motor Speedway. Pit Pass Indy also features interviews with six-time INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon and XPEL 375 race winner Josef Newgarden.
Our featured interview is when Dean Kessel, the Chief Marketing Officer of The American Legion, who explains why the veterans service organization has become an active partner with Chip Ganassi Racing and INDYCAR. Last week, it was announced that The American Legion would serve as an “official partner” with INDYCAR in a multi-year deal.
