On this week's episode, the ladies talk to Lawyer Kelly, a certified Family Law Specialist! She attended University of San Diego school of law because she got the best scholarship. Kelly applied to over 15 law schools and ended up with a full ride for 1st year! While she interned in law school she said she did lots of learning. Like at the PD & DA offices, she decided NO criminal law. Kelly finished in law school 2.5 years, and passed the bar the 1st time, at just 23 years old! Kelly got into family law in law school with the domestic violence clinic. After passing the bar, she worked at multiple law firms in the San Fransisco area in insurance defense, for 5 years. However, she found herself always doing pro bono hours in family law, and needing independence in her schedule, so she decided it was time to start her own firm, at 30 years old! Tips Owning your firm: Have an online presence (make a good website and get the word out) ; also, Volunteer / TV exposure / Get know in your community ; and get to know lawyers and judges on the bench.
