Description

Smut Peddler tells Django Nudo about an exciting new streaming service he's discovered called... Cultpix! Yes, sometimes we don't have time to watch all of our films, so we go back and re-discovers gems that we missed when they were first uploaded. 80's fantasy films were the super-enjoyable Amazons (1986), Gor (1987), and The Beastmaster (1982), followed by Starcrash (1978).  R.I.P. William Friedkin.  The Astro-Zombies (1968) - Schlocky space-horror hokum with John Carradine as a disgruntled scientist sets about creating Astromen from criminal's dead body parts, with Tura Satana, best known for "Faster Pussycat Kill Kill" and lots of boobies in the nightclub scene. Ted V. Mikels (The Corpse Grinders) directs a film that is a strong contender for worst-ever/so-bad-it's-good, but it did inspire several punk and rock bands, including the Misfits who even entitled a song after this  Astro Zombies rampage extravaganza. A Boy and His Dog USA (1975) - A young Don Johnson makes his way through a post-apocalyptic landscape in the year 2024 (i.e. next year!) with his telepathic dog Blood, played by Tiger from "The Brady Bunch" TV show. Noteworthy from being based on a famous Harlan Ellison 1969 novella. Corvette Summer (1978) - Mark Hamill's follow-up to Star Wars was this adventure comedy about a young guy trying to retrieve his stolen Corvette Stingray from Las Vegas, meeting Annie Pott's spunky, how to call it, eerhh... “I’m a hooker for chrissake.” Debbie Does Dallas USA (1978) - One of the most famous adult films of all time, in which Bambi Woods and her team of cheerleaders sell sex to earn enough money to get to Dalles to try out for the "Texas Cowgirls". The Dallas Cowboys sued the makers for similarities to Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. There were numerous remakes and even a musical in 2001 - though the latter without much nudity or 'action' - that is still being brought back on stage.  Hercules (1983) - The success of Ah-nuld in Conan the Barbarian (1981) and Clash of the Titans (1981)  must have inspired Golan-Globus to make this swords-and-sandals-meets-Star Wars mashup, with Lou (Hulk) Ferrigno as the muscled Greed half-good. Sadly he wanted a more PG family-friendly adventure movie, whereas Sybil Danning had signed up for more sex and blood. The Italian Connection  (1972) - Quentin Tarantino's inspiration for Pulp Fiction's Vince and Jules came from the NY hitmen (Woody Strode and Henry Silva) in this effective Italian thriller, sent to Italy to take care of a pimp suspected of stealing a big heroine shipment from the mafia. Slick, brutal and efficient thriller. Night of a Thousand Cats (1972) - is your typical crazy cat millionaire playboy, flying around in his helicopter, picking up beautiful women, seducing them at his mansion and then killing them so they can become cat food. Today the films is notorious because of the supposed mistreatment of the cats. There is a Spotify playlist, including the outro song from the Debbie Does Dallas musical.
