Description

What does it take to be yourself in this world and to awaken to the full potential of all that it means to be alive in each moment? Eugene Cash explores both fear and the courage it takes to meditate and to deal with relationships, in our personal life and in civic life. He shares what it takes to be genuine given the social/political world we inhabit and the nation-based identities that engulf us. He encourages us to mature in our humanity in ways we might not yet have realized. Eugene speaks of the inspiration for his talk: Paul Redd, a man imprisoned for 44 years from the age of 19 to 63, including 25 years in solitary confinement. He died on Juneteenth, 2022 of Covid, just two years after being released. ____________ Eugene Cash is the founding teacher of the San Francisco Insight Meditation Community of San Francisco. He teaches at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and leads intensive meditation retreats internationally. His teaching is influenced by both Burmese and Thai streams of the Theravada tradition as well as Zen and Tibetan Buddhist practice. He is also a teacher of the Diamond Approach, a school of spiritual investigation and self-realization developed by A. H. Almaas.
