175 years ago this year the Communist Manifesto was written.  According to Marx, man’s dreams and high ideals are not imitations of a supernatural truth but that men’s actions are driven by material wealth and survival.  He viewed republican political theory as mere window dressing that allowed the powerful to disguise their real struggle for power.
