Born and raised in Lloydminster Lance played his juniors with the Red Deer Rebels. He was drafted twice into the NHL once 10th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 1996 and then again 64th overall by the Florida Panthers in 1998 you may be scratching your head as to how that's possible but I promise that is exactly what happened.
