Description
Today, I want to introduce you to another fantastic astrologer, someone whose work I really admire, Emma Frey. She gave a talk for us recently in our Summer Speaker Series on astrological physiognomy, which is the study of how we end up looking like our sun, moon, and rising signs. Enjoy!
Astrology tends to stay in the shadows, revealing itself only through metaphorical associations between planetary archetypes and mundane occurrences (e.g., a Mars-Venus square being reflected in a lovers’ quarrel, or an outer-planet transit clearly correlating to a historical epoch).
But there is one way in which astrology shows up much more overtly: on our very faces.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the phenomenon of astrological physiognomy: the study of noting patterns between natal placements and faces. We’ll walk through the history of the study (in which famous figures such as William Blake were interested), explore views on the subject held by ancient astrologers, and dig into how the internet—with all its many celebrity birth chart databases and photos—enables us to bring these facial patterns to life in oftentimes startling, nigh-on miraculous ways.
