Description

Husband and Wife cover Psalms 126 - 128Psalm 126: Thanksgiving for Restoration. Starts, "When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion." Psalm 126 was proposed by religious Zionists to be the national anthem of the State of Israel. It got rejected. But its feelings aren't hurt too bad because it later inspired the hymn "Bringing in the Sheaves" and got to appear multiple times in Little House on the Prairie (so take THAT, naysayers!)"Bringing in the Sheaves" performed by gospel trio The Samuelshttps://youtu.be/3RAUv7by07kPsalm 127: Prosperity Comes from the LORD / The Builder's Psalm. Starts, "Except the Lord build the house." This psalm is recited as a prayer for protection of a newborn infant and is invoked by the Quiverfull movement, as one of the foundations for their stance that large families are a blessing from God. It is also often inscribed on buildings. Honestly, Legos should get in on this as the natural bridge between these two ideologies.Psalm 128: The Blessedness of Him Who Fears the LORD. Starts, "Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD." Psalm 128 is used on the feast of the Holy Family, which presents the Holy Family as a model for Christian families in that all little boys should claim to be the Son of God and grow up to be tortured and murdered. Now that's a religion we can get behind! /sSide Note: The Twelve Days of Christmas are the days between December 25th and January 6th.The Feast of the Circumcision of Christ is a Christian celebration of the circumcision of Jesus that generally falls on January 1st (the 8th Day of Christmas). Epiphany immediately follows the Twelve Days of Christmas and is a celebration that primarily commemorates the baptism of Jesus and his presentation to the Magi. It is held on the Sunday between January 7 through January 13.Join us on DISCORD: https://discord.gg/8RwwMrb5zKSkip the ads by joining Acast+ https://plus.acast.com/s/6331d364470c7900137bb57dThank you for stopping by Sacrilegious Discourse - Bible Study for Atheists!Check out these links for more information about our podcast and merchandise:Our Homepage: https://sacrilegiousdiscourse.com/Help support us by subscribing on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/sacrilegiousdiscourse Join Acast+ to enjoy our podcast adfree and get EARLY access to our episodes! https://plus.acast.com/s/sacrilegious-discourse-bible-study-for-atheists.

Husband and Wife are two non-believers who have always wanted to read the Bible. Why would we subject ourselves to this you might ask? From our perspective it helps us understand where the Christians around us, here in the Midwest, are coming from when they quote the Bible at us. Husband is basically an Atheist and wife leans Agnostic but mostly Atheist and we're just having some fun at the Bible's expense while learning more about what our neighbors claim we're going to hell over.
