Mere months before the events of May 1968, French New Wave figurehead Jean-Luc Godard captured the lighter side of left-wing student revolutionaries with his classic LA CHINOISE (1967). A few years later, he tried to create a new kind of radical leftist cinema with BRITISH SOUNDS (1970).
