Description

Hi Everyone, hope you are all staying safe during this pandemic. The murder of Black people like Breonna Taylor and George Floyd has led to a lot of discussion here at Petri Dish about what we could do with our platform. We decided one of the things we could do was inform our listeners about the long intertwining history of race, racism, and science. In this episode, the first of three, we discuss the early history of modern conceptions of race, going back to the 17th century. Next time we will be discussing eugenics and human genetics.
This episode features a promo for SipNSci, a comedic science podcast centered around Black scientists, some drinks, and a whole lot of science. Find them at @SipNScipod.

Titles in the series (100)

Profane, insane, and 100% primo science, Petri Dish is a no-BS podcast that explores the wildest subjects in modern science with clarity and evil joy. Hosted by Sean Allen, a Nanoparticle/Immunology Researcher, and Nathan Allen, his "screenwriter" brother, Petri Dish fuses hard science with a freewheeling and madcap conversational style. Cannabinoids, Plague, Cats, the dreaded Candiru, and the even more dreaded Covid-19: all these and more are dissected with intellect and irreverence, dropping every week. So reject ignorance. Join the Scientific Revolution. Join Petri Dish.
