There’s only so much regular Americans can take before they’ve had enough, and it seems like we are quickly approaching that threshold. The OceanGate Titanic sub search is continuing with hope dwindling rapidly. In a recently released video, the OceanGate CEO, Stockton Rush, said he didn’t want to hire “50-year-old white guys” because they weren’t “inspirational.” Was this tragic situation avoidable? Is this the end result of hiring for diversity instead of meritocracy? Elon Musk deemed the LGBT term “cisgender” and “cis” to be slurs when used on Twitter. While no one wants to police speech, it does seem fair that neither side should be able to call the other derogatory names. A Pfizer rep admitted that researchers didn’t test for COVID transmission, claiming they were moving at the “speed of science.” Being in a rush simply isn’t an acceptable answer to one of the biggest scientific blunders in history. James O’Keefe got a BlackRock rep on camera admitting to buying politicians, sometimes for as little as $10,000. The Pentagon said an “accounting error” resulted in finding $6 billion more in aid to Ukraine. What kind of “accounting error” overlooks that much money? Is there nothing better we could have used those additional funds for?
