Cub Kuker Supernatural Podcast EP252

Today I want to talk about a unique theory I have about the skinwalker. I have talked in the past about tulpas, totems, and physical manifestations of the divine but what happens when we mix fear into that equation?

The Skinwalker is a legendary figure found in various Native American cultures, particularly among the Navajo people. The legend of the Skinwalker is deeply rooted in Navajo folklore and is considered a taboo subject among the tribe. The term "skinwalker" itself refers to a person who possesses the ability to transform into different animals.

According to the Navajo legend, a Skinwalker is typically a malevolent witch or sorcerer who has gained supernatural powers through dark rituals and the ability to shape-shift. These individuals are believed to have the ability to assume the form of any animal they desire, often taking the shape of coyotes, wolves, owls, or crows. They are said to wear the skins of the animals they transform into, hence the name "skinwalker."

The Skinwalker is often associated with malevolent acts and is believed to use their powers for harmful purposes. They are said to possess the ability to inflict illness, bring bad luck, or even cause death upon others. The legend also suggests that Skinwalkers have the ability to manipulate human thoughts, emotions, and behavior, as well as create confusion and fear.

Navajo tradition holds that Skinwalkers are created when an individual indulges in the practice of witchcraft, particularly by performing a grave taboo, such as killing a close family member or committing incest. Once someone becomes a Skinwalker, they are believed to be driven by a hunger for power and revenge.

Due to the nature of the legend and the fear associated with it, Navajo people are generally reluctant to discuss the topic openly. It is considered dangerous to speak the name of a Skinwalker aloud, as it is believed to draw their attention and invite negative experiences. The legend of the Skinwalker continues to be a significant part of Navajo culture, representing a powerful and cautionary tale about the consequences of engaging in dark magic and the misuse of power.
