It was owned by Sicilian entrepreneurs Frank, Rose, and Sam Maceo and hosted famous personalities including Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, George Burns, and The Marx Brothers. It was well known for illegal gambling activities, which eventually led to its closure by the Texas Rangers in 1957.
