Description

Everyone loves Carcass. Well up to a certain point in their career. I can safely state that from Reek of Putrefaction to Heartwork, most would agree that that they could do no wrong (I'm omitting the nut jobs who think they sold out with Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious). After the relative success of Heartwork and their signing to Columbia, they were posed to set the world on fire as a mainstream death metal band. But as they state themselves "I Told You So (Corporate Rock Really Does Suck)." Many were highly critical of their swansong, the aptly names Swansong, eventually released by Earache after Columbia shelved it, but now over 10 years later we thought it was worth giving it a second chance. Some see Swansong as a blemish to an otherwise flawless career, and to others this was their entry point to Carcass which opened the door to discovering their earlier output. This episode we reflect on Carcass' post-Heartwork output, including the Blackstar project (the Swansong lineup, sans Bill Steer + Mark "Griff" Griffiths ex-Cathedral).
