Description
Darryl Wallis is a 32-year-old pharmacist in Toronto, Canada. Because of a genetic mutation called MHY11, Darryl was born with a constellation of problems with his gastrointestinal tract. The extremely rare condition Darryl was born with is known as gastric-intestinal pseudo-obstruction. When Darryl was 20, he received a quadruple organ transplant, which included his stomach, small and large intestines, liver and pancreas. Darryl is now the father of a son who has also been diagnosed with the same genetic mutation. Today we’ll talk with him about how this condition has affected his life, his support for organ donation in Canada and what it was like to wait for multiple organs. He'll also tell us about how he is doing today and what it's like to be the recipient of multiple organs. In this clip, Anna thanks listeners of "Heart to Heart with Anna" and asks them to keep the comments on the podcast episodes coming!Support the showAnna's Buzzsprout Affiliate LinkBaby Blue Sound CollectiveSocial Media Pages:Apple PodcastsFacebookInstagramMeWeTwitterYouTubeWebsite
