In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the Capitals loss to the Florida Panthers. This was a game that the Capitals should've won, but found a way to lose. The Caps ended up making it close towards the end but some empty net goal by the Panthers sunk the Capitals hopes for victory.Dylan Strome scores his 12th goal of the season to cut the deficit to 3-1. Seven of Strome's 12 goals have come in the second period. Washington's 70 goals scored in the second period are tied for the sixth most in the NHL. Evgeny Kuznetsov scores his ninth goal of the season to make it 4-3. It marks Kuznetsov's 162nd career goal, tying Kelly Miller for the 14th-most goals in franchise history. Nicklas Backstrom scores his third goal of the season on the power play to cut the deficit to 4-2. Since making his season debut on Jan. 8 versus Columbus, Backstrom has recorded seven points (3g, 4a) in 14 games. Later Dan talks about how Darcy Kuemper rates compared to other NHL goalies.
