Description
What makes a community special? Al Jazeera’s series “A Sense of Community” has traveled to four unique parts of the globe to explore the concept: islanders in remote Scotland facing depopulation, residents fighting crime and creating safety in the most dangerous neighborhood in Mexico City, female runners in Kenya pushing back against gender-based violence, and Tibetans in Toronto battling gentrification. All four communities face challenges in holding onto their culture and identity, but in a time when communities worldwide are reckoning with changes during the pandemic, they also offer lessons about what makes community worth preserving.
