He announced his retirement in 2008 due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Following his retirement, Cuttino was named the recipient of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association “Native Son” Award. Since 2017, he has competed as co-captain of Power in the Big3 3-on-3 retired NBA players and prospects league.
