Description

The dust has settled on the Merseyside derby and, while it still feels like two points dropped, the Liverpool fans who make up the latest View from the Kop podcast panel are remaining upbeat. And it’s a new-look panel with regular Paul Philbin join by two guests who were visiting the Liverpool ECHO office for the day – Nigel Railton, who is the CEO of Camelot, the operators of the National Lottery, and local lad Ben Woods, who 15 years ago last week scooped £2.5m on the Lotto. As both are big Reds supporters, we invited them on to the pod, and after Ben talks about the night that changed his life, and why Anfield was his only destination to go public on his huge win, they join Paul in discussing where the stalemate with Everton leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side.Talk then turns to the respective run-ins of Liverpool and Manchester City – with Nigel pinpointing one game in particular as being crucial – and why whoever finishes second could well be creating history. Also up for debate is whether it’s better to be chased or be the chaser and whether City are as bulletproof as some would have you believe. The visit of Burnley to Anfield on Sunday is previewed as is the trip to Munich to take on Bayern in the Champions League on Wednesday. Paul, who will be there as part of the travelling Kop, reckons it is a pivotal one for the Reds manager.Liverpool’s and City’s injury problems are also on the agenda, which in turn leads to the talk of the role Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain could play between now and the end of the season.Enjoy.
