Description
We continue our look at Steven Spielberg's b-sides with a film that bills itself as a comedy spectacular but seems to forget how to be funny; we're talking about the comedy war action mess that is 1941. Based on a script by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis along who were inspired by real-life events in LA before WWII, it features a star-studded cast of comedic and dramatic actors as they attempt to thwart an Axis invasion. It's a bizarre mashup of genres that, at times, doesn't work and at others only slightly works but ultimately is a lackluster addition to Spielberg's filmography. OughtFiveFilm's Father Malone joins Chris to talk about the film, his favorite Spielberg film, and whether the film deserves all the hate. You can follow Chris Stachiw at @Casualty_Chris and the Kulturecast @kulturecast.
