Description
Jess Byard June comes to a close with a look at a slasher film that has become not only classic within the summer camp subgenre but also a thoughtful and pointed meta entry along with movies such as Scream: The Final Girls. The film stars Taissa Farmiga as Max, daughter of late scream queen Amanda, who gets transported alongside her friends into her late mother's most well-known film where they attempt to best the killer and change the outcome of the film. Supported by a fantastic cast, pitch-perfect soundtrack, and a script that not only pays homage to its slasher source material but also builds upon it; it's a film that deserves all to become a contemporary cult classic. Award-winning screenwriter and namesake of the month Jess Byard joins Chris once again to talk the movie, it's the use of color and sound, and why it hasn't become better known. You can follow Chris Stachiw at @KultureStach and the Kulturecast @kulturecast.
