Description
The Nats & Phillies split their doubleheader that was able to be played despite the ominous forecast. Joey Meneses was the star at the plate in Game 1, where Washington clobbered Philly 13-4, as he had hit a bases clearing double and his 13th HR of the season. Mark & Al discuss the next chapter of his post trade deadline magic carpet ride.
(12:10) Luis Garcia had 3 hits and drove in 5 runs on Saturday afternoon. Hear what former National he might be comparable to. However, Garcia made a poor defensive decision in the 1st inning and his double play partner CJ Abrams, has committed 3 errors already in this series. Abrams offensively though had a great game as he gathered 3 hits and made a crucial hustle play in the victory.
(26:45) The Nationals called up Tommy Romero from AAA and his outing did not go well in Game 2, an 8-2 Philadelphia triumph. Romero allowed 5 HRs in under 4 innings as he struggled mightily on the mound. Kyle Schwarber homered twice off of him, giving him a NL leading 44 home runs.
(34:15) The series finale is scheduled for 1:35pm on Sunday in D.C. Weather again could be an issue and given Philadelphia's playoff situation, it could be a long day at the ballpark.
