The movie premiered to much discourse and scandal on the heels of the 2008 economic recession and was branded "tone deaf" and "bragging." Articles galore ripped the romantic comedy a new one for its tasteless timing and privileged POV. Lauren and Gaby get into the real mental illness(es) behind "shopaholism," the relationship between department stores and sex, the accurate depictions of debt collecting/skiptracing, and post-pandemic "revenge spending."
