Begin Again is the story of formerly successful record label executive Dan Mulligan played by Mark Ruffalo. Dan has fallen on tough times, he hasn’t booked a successful artist on his record label in years, he is no longer living with his wife Miriam played by Catherine Keener, he has a strained relationship with his daughter Violet played by Hailee Steinfield, we believe Dan might also be abusing alcohol… so… it’s not going well, until at a dingy bar he hears this beautiful song, being performed by Gretta James played by Keira Knightly… it’s hauntingly beautiful and Dan decides THIS is what he’s been looking for, he’s going to make a record with Gretta…
