Description

This week we are so lucky to have on one of the funniest people I know, the incredible Jo Firestone! You may know Jo from Shrill on Hulu, The Tonight Show, Joe Pera Talks To You, or that CSA she's been getting too many vegetables at each week. We discuss our cooking habits and what to do when you have an overhaul of fresh vegetables (hint: make a soup)! But of course we get into all of the jobs Jo had before she was the success you know & love today and that started at the local food court. Jo got to pass out the chicken samples at Little Tokyo at the mall and she was too honest to keep the job. She then moved onto a pizza place that surprised her with pop quizzes, and landed a gig at an apple orchard. One of her best jobs was working as the kid's entertainer at the apple orchard as "Farmer Jo!" And then when she moved to NY she worked in a coffee shop and catering, and we get into the food service stories. But her favorite job was playing a casting director for someone's marriage proposal! The stories in this episode are hilarious and if you love Jo, this is a must listen! Find Jo on IG at @yoyofirestone and watch Shrill on Hulu!

This is a safe space for anyone who has ever lost a job, left a job, or is sitting at their desks bored out of their mind right now! Based on the hit live digital talk show, "The Unemployed Show," where Anna and guests would wear pajamas every week and commiserate about bad jobs, this podcast is a more intimate look into the world of unemployment and underemployment. Anna sat in front of a camera on her couch for 'The Unemployed Show' for 2 years and then got a job hosting a show in front of hundreds of thousands of people on the app HQ. Is she the fairy godmother of unemployed millennials? Some say yes! Hopefully this podcast will inspire you to pick yourself up and get a new job, or stay on your couch and chill all day. Either way, you'll laugh with Anna and her guests about the insane things they did for work. Each week Anna interviews friends, comedians, and professionals about their worst (and best!) job stories and how they figured out life as an unemployed person. Oh and sometimes they call a stranger from the internet who is unemployed and in need of a pep talk. It's sweet.
