Its finally here, the Wisconsin Badgers and the Illinois State Redbirds kick off week 1 of the college football season. We talk about what Paul Chryst and the Badgers need to do in week 1 for a successful game and a successful stepping point for the rest of the year. Why Graham Mertz and the passing game need to be given the opportunities to throw early and often as that unit desperately needs the reps and continuity to build on throughout the year. Paul Chryst needs to use week one as an opportunity to work on the passing game. I talk about all of the new components in the passing eco-system and why the reps are going to be so important in the first three weeks.

We introduce the Illinois State program, how did they do last year and on the cupcake scale how tough are they ? Are there any areas they might be able to stress the Badgers and keep the game close. We talk about what a dominant Badgers game could mean for the rest of the year and how much to overract to a potential week one beatdown. We discuss the importance of getting through the early stretch of games as quickly as possible without injuries, which means hopefully getting a lot of the starters out in the second half and using those reps as opprotuniteis to build depth at several positions on the team.
