Nynaeve and Elayne have arrived in Tanchico. The people are starving. Things are so bad there that Captain Domon has started running a soup kitchen. When the young women have a conversation with him for the first time since Falme, he quickly picks up on their good cop/bad cop style, although Elayne and Nynaeve only do this accidentally, it sure does work very well for them. Elayne gets wasted, confronts Thom about her childhood memories of him, and then wanders into Nynaeve and her shared room. In the morning, Elayne will pretend that none of it ever happened.
