On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick talks about the San Francisco Giants' 2-0 win over the Phillies in Philadelphia. It was the 200th win in Gabe Kapler's managerial career, which had to feel extra sweet coming against the Phillies. The Giants' manager was fired by the Phillies and treated poorly by Phillies fans and media. He's now 200-200 as a manager, and the man the Phillies hired to replace him is just 36-40. Kapler was 161-163 as Phillies manager—a superior winning percentage.
Kevin Gausman started for the Giants, and he delivered another six shutout innings. The Giants' starting staff continues to carry the team, and they're now second in all of baseball in earned run average. Brandon Belt delivered a key two-run home run that was the extent of the offense for the night. The bats still need to wake up, but the Giants' pitching has helped the team get off to a nice 10-6 start. Matt Wisler, Camilo Doval, and Wandy Peralta each notched a scoreless inning to complete the shutout and Kap's 200th career win.
