On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick talks about the San Francisco Giants' dramatic comeback win against the Cincinnati Reds. Kevin Gausman surrendered a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning, but the Giants offense responded with a pair of two-run bombs in the bottom half of the inning. Tommy La Stella led off with his first of three hits, and Mike Yastrzemski hit one over the wall at 109 mph, the hardest hit ball of his major league career. Brandon Crawford later homered in the inning with Evan Longoria on base.
Overall, the Giants are looking as advertised. They have quality players up and down the 26-man roster, and their platooning and pinch hitting is starting to pay dividends again, as it did last year. The starting pitching has exceeded expectations thus far, and the bullpen has been pretty good after their Opening Day meltdown. Jake McGee collected his fifth save in Tuesday's win, and he has still yet to allow a hit or a run.
