Joey Votto announced after the Cincinnati Reds walk-off win that he will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder. Jeff and Steve see this as the stage being set for his 2023 Comeback Player of the Year campaign. This also shows that the poor numbers he had put up this year was due to him playing through the injury and not because Votto was succumbing to Father Time. The Reds now have a decision to make. Will the Reds choose the easy route and just stick Mike Moustakas at first base? Or will the Reds choose the right path and call up Spencer Steer and move Kyle Farmer to first base?
