Description
This week Sam is joined by Daniel Kelly. Daniel is an old friend and having worked together for many years, experiencing many of the same Christian narratives at their old place of work, there is a lot of history to reflect upon.
The video version of this conversation can be found here on our YouTube channel 12 hours after the audio version goes live.
Daniel is going to be on the podcast on a regular basis, with an episode planned every month or so for the next six months, at present. Daniel has a really sharp mind and along with his understanding of the Bible and love of philosophy, we are hopeful these conversations are going to be helpful for you all.
In this episode, Daniel shares his story behind leaving the Christian faith and why, for him, his understanding of scripture and how he viewed women within the faith, compared to how the Bible portrayed women, caused cognitive dissonance.
Daniel wanted the following to be made clear as towards the end of the video (01:07ish) he makes a comment that he doesn't agree with, here is what he has to say: ‘Really sorry, I realised I said near the end of this podcast ‘*decided* she was attracted to women’. To be clear I don’t think people can choose their sexuality and I never have believed this. This was me muddling my sentences but I know that some have honestly held such views and used them against the LGBT+ community so sorry if it caused any offense.’
