Filmmaker Tugené Davis is here to join me in breaking down the many shades of college life at Mission College in Spike Lee’s 1988 musical masterpiece School Daze starring Laurence Fishburne and Tisha Campbell.
Tugené shares the life-changing gifts she received from her time as a first generation college student at Howard University. Offering personal insight into the heartbeat of HBCU culture, Tugené gets candid about communication through artistry, Spike Lee's incredible messaging, daring to dream big, waking up, and the lasting legacy of her friend and gifted performer Chadwick Boseman.
Get to know Tugené Davis:
Tugené is a proud Howard University alum. Her degree of Fine Arts in Business and Entertainment has led to an exciting career as a performer and entrepreneur with experiences ranging from Black Entertainment Television to church sanctuaries to the Apollo Theatre of New York. Tugené's performed on notable stages, worked with renowned artists, and continues to entertain and educate with passion, conviction, and purpose through teaching, directing, filmmaking, and philanthropy. In addition to working on her first feature-length documentary Me & Nita, a film addressing the Black Maternal Mortality rate, she's also a loving wife and mother of two daughters living God’s purpose.
